We'll Miss You, Robin Williams

I'm a little late in saying my farewells, but to be honest, I was too shocked to post anything. After scrolling through reels of sweet messages and pictures depicting this actor's amazing life (usually in the form of quotes and shots from films that I've treasured since childhood), I've finally found the words to express my sorrow at this profound loss. Like so many mourners, Williams was part of my childhood, and that is always a tender and delicate place to be in anyone's heart. Before 'Good Morning Vietnam' and 'Good Will Hunting' there was 'Jumanji', 'Aladdin' and 'Mrs Doubtfire', and my video-watching days were coloured by his amazing comedic chops and talent for making us kids writhe with laughter. Some of my earliest memories are listening to him sing in Aladdin and wishing that this beautiful, blue Genie could be a real person, and upon finding out that he was, became an instant fan of his other work. To have that taken away in such short notice, under such sad circumstances is heartbreaking for someone who has cherished and admired his career for so long.
Goodnight, sweet prince. Thank you for painting my childhood with your brilliant humour and talent.
